  1. There are more than 120,000 books published each year. Without savvy marketing, yours has little chance of selling.
  2. People have very short attention spans. If they aren’t introduced to your book several times, it’s unlikely they’ll purchase it.
  3. Consumers don’t buy covers alone. If you’re an unknown author, you’re going to have to market yourself in order to get readers for your book.
  4. Self-publishing authors don’t always understand the value of pre-selling their books. Most authors wait to heavily market their books until they’re in their hands. Consequently, they miss huge opportunities to make money from their books during the concept, writing and editing phases!
  5. The books don’t contain the right marketing verbiage. A marketer with strategic insights can instinctively pepper any manuscript with call-to-action items, allowing for profit-making opportunities down the road.

7 Reasons to Write Your Book in 2010

1. People are eager to know how to change their lives.

There has been an enormous amount of upheaval in the past 18 months. Authors who offer solutions are going to be sought after by individuals who want to reinvent themselves.

2. The Internet is the ideal place to market your nonfiction book.

The opportunities to get your book “out there” via the World Wide Web are incredible!

3. Studies have shown that around 8 out of every 10 Americans wants to write a book.

Not surprisingly, most never do. It’s time for you to become that person who completes his/her life goal of becoming an author.

4. Self-published books can rise to the top.

It takes hard work, but if you’re diligent and market yourself wisely, you may just create a tsunami of buzz. Recently, two of the Kindle Top 25 Bestsellers books were self-published – MetaGame and Day’s End.

5. The longer you wait, the more outdated your message may become.

If you have a great concept, now is the time to make it public. If you wait too long, it may be too late to bring you the profits you could earn this year.

6. Your credentials will improve tremendously.

Being able to say that you’re an author instantly gives you credence in whatever field you’ve chosen. Even before someone picks up your book, s/he will recognize you as a person of authority.

7. Nonfiction book writing is getting easier.

With ghostwriting and marketing services like Your Written Book, you can become an established author in six months’ time. You’ll have a publication that’s comprised of your thoughts written in your tone and positioned to make you wealthier!

There are No “Shoemaker’s Elves” to Write Your Book

Remember the story of the shoemaker’s elves?  The poor guy was inundated by work and was not in the best of health.  He just couldn’t seem to keep up with his responsibilities and was on the verge of throwing in the towel.   Then, lo and behold, a magical thing happened!

Each night, he would go to bed with piles of shoes on his work table… and each morning he would awake only to discover that the shoes were finished and repaired!  In the end, he discovered his mysterious helpers were elves and he rewarded them by making them shoes and clothing of their own.

It’s a great story, isn’t it?  But if you’re waiting for those elves to write your book, you’re out of luck.

Without accountability, information, tools and direction, your book will remain just a few scattered notes.  No matter how many times you head to your bedroom with the high hopes that you’ll discover a polished book upon awakening, it won’t happen.

That’s one of the many reasons we’ve designed a special FREE teleseminar for people who want to write a nonfiction book.  We’ll give you the motivation and the insights to finally get your thoughts on paper.  Best of all, no assistance from elves will be necessary!

To receive more information on our upcoming teleseminar, write to julie(at)yourwrittenbook(dot)com.

8 Reasons Your Book Isn’t Finished

Where is your first (or next) non-fiction book right now?  If you’re like thousands of other people, it’s in your head (at least mostly) and not on anyone’s book shelf.

In other words, it’s not doing anything for you financially, socially or business-wise.

So why haven’t you written your book?  Chances are that you’ve embraced one (or more) of the following excuses:

  1. I don’t have time to write my book.
  2. I don’t know how to start writing my book.
  3. Writing a book is too expensive.
  4. I don’t have enough material for my book.
  5. I don’t have any industry insiders to help me write my book.
  6. I am not a writer.
  7. I do not deserve to call myself an author.
  8. No one would care about my book.

You know what we say to those eight excuses?  Baloney!

We have worked with other people in your position and would love to chat with you about how we helped them overcome the barriers they created to getting their books into the marketplace.
